We’ve still got more presenters, more shows, and more exciting announcements coming your way next week as we continue to build Kent’s newest local radio station.

Made in Kent Radio – Local Voices. Local Stories. Local Music.

The first voice on air will be Matt James, who kicks things off with the brand‑new Made In Kent Breakfast. Expect great music, local stories, and everything happening across the county as the station begins its mission to celebrate Kent’s people, places and culture.

The launch comes as Kent prepares for a sunny Bank Holiday, with warm weather expected to draw thousands to the county’s beaches and seaside towns. From Whitstable to Broadstairs, Margate to Dymchurch, tourism businesses are gearing up for one of the busiest weekends of the year.

Greenwich Media says the new station will shine a spotlight on the best of Kent—its communities, its coastline, its creativity, and its independent businesses.

“We’re thrilled to bring Made In Kent Radio to life,” Matt James, managing editor of Made Kent Radio said. “It’s a station made for Kent, about Kent, and proudly rooted in the county’s identity.”

Listeners can tune in on digital radio, online, on smart speakers, and via the Made In Kent Radio app.

With sunshine on the way and a brand‑new station hitting the airwaves, it’s shaping up to be a Bank Holiday full of good vibes across Kent and south east London.

Made in Kent Radio was founded five years ago by presenter and producer Matt James. It launched during the COVID-19 pandemic to support local businesses and provide county-focused content.

In 2024, the station moved into Bluewater Shopping Centre to strengthen its presence across Kent.

Now joining the Greenwich Media family, which also runs Maritime Radio, Made In Kent Radio is extending its community broadcasting work across the county while maintaining Made in Kent Radio’s local identity.

A Greenwich Media spokesperson said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Made in Kent Radio into the Greenwich Media family.”  They added that the organisation is “committed to continuing that legacy” and plans to “invest in the brand, grow its reach on DAB, and ensure it remains a powerful voice for local people.”

The station will broadcast music from the 1980s to today, alongside local news and features.

Plans are in place to reintroduce the Media Academy to support young people developing broadcasting skills across Kent.

Listen on digital radio across the county and on the Made In Kent Radio app.
